What to expect

This tour is designed for serious garden travellers who want to see the Netherlands beyond the usual tourist programme. We visit Keukenhof and the tulip fields of the Bollenstreek — the finest spring bulb landscape in Europe — but the programme goes considerably further.

Het Loo Palace, with its restored seventeenth-century formal gardens, is one of the most important garden restorations in Europe. Dutch country estates — the buitenplaatsen of the Vecht and Gooi regions — offer a very different tradition from the public bulb landscapes. Our expert tour leader, with specialist knowledge of Dutch horticulture, garden history and plant breeding, provides context that transforms a garden visit into a genuine experience.

Tour dates, pricing and the full itinerary will be published shortly. Please enquire to register your interest and be notified when booking opens.

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to visit Holland for gardens?
Mid-April to early May is the peak tulip season, when Keukenhof is in full bloom and the Bollenstreek fields are at their most spectacular. Het Loo Palace and the Dutch country house gardens are at their best from April through June.
Is Keukenhof the only garden on the itinerary?
No. Keukenhof is a centrepiece, but the tour goes well beyond it. We visit Het Loo Palace — one of Europe's most important garden restorations — Dutch buitenplaatsen estates, and private gardens not open to the general public.
How does this compare with a self-guided visit to Keukenhof?
The tour places Keukenhof in context alongside the broader Dutch horticultural tradition, with an expert leader who explains the plant breeding, garden history and landscape character that you would not encounter independently.
