What to expect
This tour is built around the northern French garden tradition — formal, historical and deeply connected to French art, literature and the Impressionist movement. The journey covers a range of garden types and garden cultures across 9 days, with a knowledgeable tour leader throughout.
Versailles, with Le Nôtre's great formal geometry, sets the tone. Giverny — Monet's garden, the direct source material for the water-lily paintings — is one of the most important garden visits in Europe when you have time and guidance to appreciate it properly rather than moving through it in a crowd. The Normandy coast, with Étretat's garden above the famous clifftops, adds a more intimate and contemporary dimension.
Tour dates, pricing and the full itinerary will be published shortly. Please enquire to register your interest and be notified when booking opens.

Frequently asked questions
- Which is better for gardens — Enchanting Gardens of France or the French Riviera tour?
- They are very different tours. Enchanting Gardens of France is northern and historical: Versailles, Giverny, Normandy — gardens that connect to French art and formal design. The French Riviera is Mediterranean, coastal and subtropical. Your choice depends on the kind of garden culture that interests you most.
- How important is Giverny on this tour?
- Giverny is a centrepiece. Monet's water garden is one of the most important and most analysed gardens in Europe — direct source material for the water-lily paintings. The tour is timed and paced so you have proper time there with expert guidance, not a rushed group visit.
- Is the tour suitable for travellers who are not particularly interested in art?
- Yes. The tour is garden-led. The connections to Impressionism and French art are part of the context — useful for understanding why these gardens matter — but the primary focus is the planting, design and garden history.
- When will booking open?
- We are finalising the itinerary for 2027. Register your interest now and we will be in touch as soon as full details are available.
